37th Annual The Ben to the Shore Bike Tour Presented by NSM Insurance Group

This year I am riding in the Ben to the Shore Bike Tour in honor Kevin Saint Clair who died tragically after being hit by a car while on his bike. I met Kevin in 1989 after driving to Philadelphia from Oregon. I asked him if I could try out for the summer program he was coaching. At the end of the summer Kevin told me I should consider relocating to Philadelphia and continue rowing. Although it took me a few years, under Kevin's coaching I went from a mediocre college rower to making the U.S. National Team. Without Kevin, this would have never happened. I am riding as part of a team of his former athletes and friends who honor his memory and contributions. Kevin inspired everyone he met. From the students he taught in Philadelphia public schools to the athletes he taught how to compete with integrity and tenacity. I owe a debt to Kevin that can be repaid only by emulating his life, and sharing his memories with family and friends.

The Families Behind the Badge Children’s Foundation (FBBCF) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit committed to improving the lives of children in the Greater Philadelphia and South Jersey area. We achieve this by providing necessary financial relief for the families of fallen or critically injured first responders (police officers, firefighters, EMTs) and cultivating positive relationships and interactions between police officers and the children in the communities they serve.
