Riding to Honor First Responders: Support the Families Behind the Badge
As a Correctional Officer and Volunteer Firefighter, I’m proud to ride with the Wheels of Justice team in the 38th Annual Ben to the Shore Bike Tour to support the Families Behind the Badge Children’s Foundation (FBBCF). This incredible foundation serves first responders and their families in the Greater Philadelphia and South Jersey areas, providing vital support during some of their toughest times.
I’m riding for the first time this year to represent Correctional Officers—unsung heroes who, like police officers and firefighters, face life-threatening situations daily. Despite the danger, Correctional Officers often go unrecognized as first responders. We deal with violent situations, inmate mental health issues, and extreme stress, all while working behind the scenes to keep our communities safe.
The FBBCF is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit with a mission that deeply resonates with me. Their three main programs include:
Financial Relief for Families of Fallen or Critically Injured First Responders: The foundation provides critical financial assistance to the families of those who sacrifice everything in the line of duty.
Police Youth Alliance Program: This program fosters positive interactions between police officers and kids through non-enforcement activities, aiming to bridge gaps and build trust within communities.
Mental Health and Wellbeing Resources: FBBCF offers much-needed mental health support to first responders and their families, addressing the emotional toll that comes with such a demanding and stressful career.
These efforts are all made possible through the Ben to the Shore Bike Tour, a 65-mile ride from Philadelphia to Atlantic City on Sunday, July 20, 2025. All donations will go toward supporting these critical programs, ensuring first responders and their families have the resources they need during their greatest times of need.
Your donation will directly impact the lives of those who risk everything to protect us. Whether you contribute or share my page, your generosity is greatly appreciated.
Thank you for helping me honor our first responders!
